New Zealand's T20I tour started on a damp note in Sydney but there were promising signs for Amelia Kerr's new-look team

The Governor-General's XI defeated New Zealand by 19 runs via the DLS method in a rain-shortened warm-up match at North Sydney Oval on Thursday. After weather curtailed the hosts' innings to 2-77 from 10 overs, the White Ferns were set a revised target of 105 from 10 overs. Lucy Finn led the bowling attack with a decisive triple-wicket over, ultimately restricting New Zealand to 6-85.
Charli Knott top-scored for the hosts with 31, while Anika Learoyd finished unbeaten on 29. In reply, New Zealand collapsed to 6-37 before late hitting from Bella James (31 not out) lifted the total. The match served as New Zealand's preparation for their upcoming three-match T20I series against Australia starting Sunday.
