Dalton Knecht’s future with the LA Lakers is becoming harder to read as the team closes in on its opening-night roster decision. The former first-round pick has not secured a clear role during preseason.
The Los Angeles Lakers and Milwaukee Bucks have held exploratory trade discussions regarding Dalton Knecht and center Jericho Sims, according to NBA insider Jake Fischer. The proposed framework would send Knecht and second-round draft capital to Milwaukee in exchange for the 27-year-old big man. However, sources briefed on the discussions have reportedly expressed pessimism that a trade will ultimately be completed.
The Lakers face a roster crunch with 16 guaranteed contracts and must cut down to the 15-player standard limit by Monday, October 19. If Los Angeles cannot finalize a trade for Knecht, reports indicate the team could potentially waive the former first-round pick before opening night.
