Philadelphia Flyers head coach Rick Tocchet has identified an unexpected culprit behind his team’s winless start: Defensemen who are simply “too horny.
Philadelphia Flyers head coach Rick Tocchet identified his defensemen being "too horny" as a primary reason for the team's early winless struggles. Speaking after a 3-2 shootout loss to the Seattle Kraken, Tocchet addressed forward Trevor Zegras's comments on "scooter skating," explaining that the team's blue-liners have repeatedly jumped into the offensive rush too early and pushed too close into opposing coverage.
Tocchet estimated that this poor timing happened four or five times against Seattle, turning potential Grade A scoring chances into blocked shots. He stressed that Philadelphia's defensemen need an extra two seconds of patience to slow down, delay their entry, and create open ice, noting the team practiced the adjustment the following day.
