Patrick Kane recorded his 895th career assist during the Chicago Blackhawks' 4-3 overtime victory against the Winnipeg Jets, officially passing Phil Housley for the most assists by a U.S.-born player in NHL history. The milestone helper occurred on a first-period power play when Kane set up newly named team captain Connor Bedard for his first goal of the season.
Bedard became the 99th different Chicago teammate Kane has assisted on a goal. After stints with the New York Rangers and Detroit Red Wings, the 37-year-old veteran returned to Chicago on a two-year, $16 million contract to play alongside Bedard and bolster the rebuilding franchise.
