"It was definitely a lapse in judgment there with the play he made."

Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Zach Werenski appeared on 97.1 The Fan's Rothman & Ice show on Wednesday to discuss recent team challenges. Werenski addressed critical postgame comments from Rick Bowness following a 6-1 home defeat, agreeing that the result was embarrassing and pointing to unnecessary penalties as a primary cause of their struggles.
Werenski also defended teammate Mathieu Olivier following a slashing penalty that resulted in an NHL fine, calling it a lapse in judgment that Olivier has owned. Looking ahead, Werenski emphasized that the players must rise to the challenge and prove themselves when they host the New York Rangers on Saturday.
