Stoke City 'are starting to motor' under new fitness plan as they prepare to take on a Derby County side with a nightmare injury list

Stoke City manager Mark Robins has praised his squad's improving fitness regime ahead of their clash with injury-hit Derby County. The Potters covered nearly 118km against Middlesbrough in midweek, following similar high-intensity metrics during a 10-man victory over Bolton. The team's enhanced physical capacity contrasts starkly with Derby, who are dealing with severe injury issues across multiple positions.
Robins credited changes made during the summer fitness overhaul, explaining that initial early-season slumps have given way to stronger, sustained performances. Stoke will head into the Derby fixture with Maksym Talovierov returning from suspension, though Sam Gallagher, Aaron Cresswell, Svante Ingelsson, and Ato Ampah remain unavailable for selection.
