Kai Rooney made his debut for Manchester United Under-21s in a Premier League 2 fixture against Nottingham Forest, but the match ended in a 3-2 defeat. The 16-year-old son of club legend Wayne Rooney was brought on as a substitute in the 77th minute while the scores were level. However, Forest secured the win after Shakur Samuels scored the decisive goal.
The appearance followed Rooney's debut for United's Under-19 team against Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Youth League, which also resulted in a loss. Rooney, who signed a scholarship agreement with United in July, is reportedly set to transition to a three-year professional contract.
