The Golden State Warriors are betting on a Jimmy Butler fairytale after passing on trades for alternative stars such as Jaylen Brown and Anthony Davis.

The Golden State Warriors declined to trade injured forward Jimmy Butler over the offseason, passing on opportunities to pursue stars such as Jaylen Brown and Anthony Davis. Writer Peter O'Keefe argues that while acquiring Brown would have improved Golden State's immediate championship credentials, the team chose to gamble on an emotionally resonant comeback story alongside Stephen Curry instead.
According to an ESPN report by Anthony Slater, the Warriors showed no appetite to trade Butler given the draft assets and contracts required. O'Keefe notes that Butler has reiterated his desire to retire with Golden State, though relying on the 37-year-old's rehabilitation carries significant competitive risks.
