SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – It was a remarkable and career-altering age-20 campaign for Arjun Nimmala. So it’s only fitting that he closed out being a 20-year-old in style. The Angels’ top-ranked prospect went 4-for-5 with a pair of triples and three…
Angels prospect Arjun Nimmala recorded four hits and fell just short of hitting for the cycle on Thursday night, the eve of his 21st birthday. Playing for the Mesa Solar Sox in the Arizona Fall League, Nimmala went 4-for-5 with two triples and three RBIs in a 14-9 victory over Salt River at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick.
Nimmala collected his first two hits off pitcher Jarlin Susana, driving in runs with a 101 mph fastball single and a 104.6 mph double. A 422-foot drive in the eighth inning resulted in his second triple rather than a home run due to incoming wind. Through seven Fall League games, Nimmala has compiled a .379 batting average.
