The Los Angeles Lakers found out why JJ Redick’s starting Matisse Thybulle over Quentin Grimes won’t work after just seven minutes against the Nuggets.

Tyler Watts of Lake Show Life argues that the Los Angeles Lakers must start Quentin Grimes over Matisse Thybulle following their preseason finale against the Denver Nuggets. Head coach JJ Redick surprisingly inserted Thybulle into the starting lineup, but Denver's defense swarmed Luka Doncic by helping off non-shooters, resulting in an early 17-8 deficit and five first-half turnovers for Doncic.
Watts asserts that Grimes provides essential offensive spacing and tertiary shot creation alongside Doncic and Austin Reaves. While Thybulle remains an elite perimeter defender, Watts contends his lack of offensive versatility makes him better suited for a disruptive bench role to avoid overtaxing Doncic during the regular season.
