South African batter credits Durham form and mental shift ahead of second Test against Australia.
South African batter David Bedingham has credited a mental shift and county cricket success for helping him overcome self-imposed pressure. After a prolific start averaging 49.57 across his first four Tests, his form dipped significantly over the next 10 matches. Bedingham stated he has embraced a free-spirited approach ahead of the second Test against Australia, aiming to enjoy the game rather than focusing on technique and performance targets.
Bedingham rebuilt his confidence with Durham, scoring 1,029 runs at an average of 73.50 with five centuries to earn a contract extension. He recently scored 49 and 46 in South Africa's 214-run defeat to Australia in the first Test at Durban, and is preparing to face Australia's formidable bowling attack again at St George's Park.
