Kasey Redfern’s time with the Detroit Lions was short, but it left a lasting impression on those who watched him step into an unexpected role in 2017.
Former Detroit Lions punter Kasey Redfern has died at age 35 following a multi-year battle with a brain tumor and central nervous system lymphoma. Redfern passed away on Tuesday, survived by his wife Lauryl and two young sons, Ollie and Logan, after recently entering hospice care.
Redfern famously won Detroit's starting job in 2017 before suffering a severe knee injury in his debut against the Arizona Cardinals. He later played three games for the Atlanta Falcons in 2019, finishing his NFL career with four regular-season appearances.
