In an extract from his new book, the bowler recalls one of English cricket’s greatest days and the team’s resentment when ECB killjoys shut down their celebrationsAs Eoin Morgan lifted the World Cup to an explosion of fireworks and ticker…

In an extract from his book, England bowler Chris Woakes describes the team's celebrations following their 2019 World Cup victory and expresses frustration over the ECB imposing a midnight curfew. Woakes criticizes managing director Ashley Giles for refusing to lift the curfew on the second night of celebrations, preventing the players from going out into London.
Woakes also expresses disappointment over the lack of an open-top bus parade, arguing that England's first men's World Cup win merited a public celebration like the 2005 Ashes. He recalls post-final festivities that included an all-nighter, an appearance at the Oval, and a boozy reception at No 10 Downing Street with Prime Minister Theresa May.
