Detroit Red Wings rookie plays first game, records first assist and scores first goal within first 10 days of season

Detroit Red Wings rookie defenseman Anton Johansson achieved several major career milestones across his first seven NHL games. The 22-year-old made his league debut on opening night on October 2, 2026, followed quickly by his first NHL assist against the New Jersey Devils and his first NHL goal against the Philadelphia Flyers.
Johansson earned an opening-night roster spot after strong AHL performances and a vacant defensive opening due to Simon Edvinsson remaining unsigned. He set up an Emmitt Finnie goal on October 13 before scoring off a 2-on-1 rush via a Dylan Larkin pass against Flyers goaltender Joseph Woll on October 15.
