A Houston Astros World Series champion is reportedly joining an American League team's coaching staff after 15 MLB seasons.

Former Houston Astros catcher and World Series champion Martín Maldonado has agreed to join the Detroit Tigers' coaching staff, according to a report from The Athletic's Chandler Rome. Maldonado, 40, transitions to coaching following a 15-season career in Major League Baseball.
The move reunites Maldonado with Detroit Tigers manager A.J. Hinch and left-handed pitcher Framber Valdez. Maldonado previously spent six seasons playing for Houston and was a key contributor during their 2022 World Series championship run.
