Baseball fans have grown accustomed to players signing record-breaking MLB contracts over the last few decades. The record books keep getting new additions every few years with blockbuster contracts.

Several prominent Major League Baseball stars throughout history have rejected massive contract offers to secure improved terms or move to new franchises. Notable instances include Juan Soto turning down a 16-year, $760 million offer from the New York Yankees before signing a record 15-year, $765 million deal with the New York Mets. Aaron Judge also rejected a $213.5 million extension from the Yankees and a reported $400 million offer from the San Diego Padres before staying in New York on a nine-year, $360 million contract.
Other marquee players highlighted for declining major deals include Bryce Harper, who turned down $300 million from the Washington Nationals before signing with the Philadelphia Phillies for $330 million. Pitcher Max Scherzer, slugger Manny Machado, Mookie Betts, Albert Pujols, Robinson Cano, Juan González, and Barry Bonds also famously rejected substantial contract proposals to pursue different opportunities.
