Former Ballon d'Or winner Jean-Pierre Papin reflected on his time at AC Milan in excerpts from his new autobiography, admitting that he was wrong to leave the Italian club for Bayern Munich in 1994. Papin explained that lack of playing time under manager Fabio Capello prompted his departure, though he later clarified matters with the coach.
Papin also recalled his dramatic arrival at the club, describing being flown by helicopter by former owner Silvio Berlusconi to his luxury Arcore villa before heading to San Siro to announce the signing. Berlusconi persuaded the French forward with gifts, piano performances, and a tour of his estate.
