Cutter Gauthier is a brewing star for the Anaheim Ducks. But his center debut was tough to watch against the Boston Bruins. With five points and two goals in his first six games, Gauthier is off to another hot start. Last…
Anaheim Ducks forward Cutter Gauthier struggled in the faceoff circle during his debut at center, winning just 4 of 20 draws in a 4-2 loss to the Boston Bruins on October 16, 2026. Gauthier moved into the middle following injuries to centers Mikael Granlund and Ryan Poehling. Despite his difficulties at the dot, Gauthier contributed an assist, logged 21:20 of ice time, and recorded a plus-1 rating.
Todd Matthews notes that Gauthier held a 46.4% career faceoff win rate prior to Friday's contest, suggesting the poor outing was an anomaly rather than a permanent concern. Ducks head coach Joel Quenneville praised Gauthier's speed and presence across the middle before the matchup. With Granlund anticipated to travel for Anaheim's road trip starting October 19 against the New York Rangers, the Ducks must evaluate whether to maintain Gauthier at center.
