The Detroit Red Wings have placed defenseman Jacob Bernard-Docker on waivers.

The Detroit Red Wings have placed defenseman Jacob Bernard-Docker on waivers to trim down their nine-man blueline surplus. The 26-year-old has not appeared in any of Detroit's first seven games this season after falling behind several other defensemen on the team's depth chart, including young blueliners Anton Johansson and Axel Sandin Pellikka.
Bernard-Docker is in the first year of a two-year, $3.2 million contract carrying an average cap hit of $1.6 million. If he goes unclaimed by opposing teams by 1 PM CT, Detroit can reassign him to AHL Grand Rapids, which would create $1.225 million in cap relief while opening a necessary roster spot for Simon Edvinsson.
