A potential fight between Teofimo Lopez and Rolando “Rolly” Romero is not close to happening, according to Top Rank promoter Bob Arum. He confirmed no serious negotiations are underway, leaving both fighters to continue weighing their next options in the welterweight division.
While the matchup between the two outspoken former world champions is an attractive one, Arum made it clear that it remains a concept rather than a concrete plan. He noted that both camps have yet to formally approach Top Rank to begin the process. Arum said: “I think that would be a good fight, Teofimo-Romero, Arum told Fight Hub TV on . But again, they’ll come to us when they’re ready for the fight to really happen, and that hasn’t happened yet.” This indicates the bout is firmly on the back burner.
Both fighters are currently without a finalized next opponent. Lopez remains a key figure for Top Rank after his run at junior welterweight, and Romero holds the WBA welterweight title, making him a significant player at 147 pounds.

Arum stated: “Teofimo is a strange sort of guy. I like him very much.
