Rory McIlroy irked US Ryder Cup vice-captain Kevin Kisner after suggesting he wanted to grow golf in India as he competes in the DP World Indian Championship

PGA Tour golfer Kevin Kisner criticized Rory McIlroy for claiming he is playing in the DP World Indian Championship to help grow the game of golf. Kisner asserted that McIlroy's motivation is financial, noting the Northern Irishman is reportedly earning a £7.5 million appearance fee following an ambassadorship deal with DP World.
Kisner argued on the Fore Play Podcast that players are reciting scripted lines to justify appearance fees at Delhi Golf Club. On the course, McIlroy sat in a tie for 40th place and 10 shots off the lead when play was suspended due to darkness on day three.
