Martinez contract, Carrick stance and Wilcox wait – Manchester United Notebook

Manchester United players remain firmly supportive of head coach Michael Carrick despite mounting pressure, with Lisandro Martinez's public criticism of the board reflecting broader squad sentiment. Martinez is unlikely to stay at Old Trafford past next summer after publicly targeting director of football Jason Wilcox and club leadership following a defeat to Atletico Madrid. United hold an option to extend Martinez's expiring contract by a year but have yet to trigger it.

Wilcox and chief executive Omar Berrada face rising scrutiny over their football leadership and lack of public communication amid a difficult start to the season. Meanwhile, United are actively scouting potential replacements for Martinez, with Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite returning to their transfer shortlist ahead of the upcoming summer window.
