David Moyes was speaking after his Everton side lost 2-0 to Chelsea on Saturday afternoon

David Moyes revealed he started Merlin Rohl against Chelsea to counter left-back Pep Chavarria, who ultimately did not play. Everton suffered their first defeat of the season in a 2-0 home loss to Xabi Alonso's Chelsea, with Pedro Neto scoring both goals at Hill Dickinson Stadium. Moyes opted for Rohl over Tyrique George and Brennan Johnson, noting Rohl improved when shifted to right-back later in the match.
Moyes also addressed James Garner's form, stating the midfielder is still working toward his best levels after returning early from a hernia operation. Additionally, the manager expressed frustration over Everton's defensive lapses and lack of creativity after conceding two goals for the third consecutive fixture.
