Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra has defended Sanju Samson, questioning his continued omission from India's ODI squad for the series against New Zealand. Chopra argued that selectors seem to have made up their minds regarding Samson despite his strong record, noting Samson was overlooked even while players like KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, and Dhruv Jurel were absent and Ishan Kishan was named vice-captain.
Highlighting Samson's recent performances, Chopra noted that the batter averages 56.67 in ODIs and scored a century in his last appearance. Chopra also highlighted Samson's strong T20I record across his last 20 innings, arguing that Samson faces disproportionate criticism and pressure despite outscoring teammates.
