Knicks makes Bruce Brown roster move before regular season

The New York Knicks have waived veteran guard Bruce Brown ahead of their upcoming regular-season opener against the Philadelphia 76ers. ESPN's Shams Charania reported on Saturday that New York chose to release the 30-year-old guard while securing former No. 2 overall pick James Wiseman on their regular-season roster as a reserve center. Brown had initially joined the Knicks on an Exhibit 9 contract in mid-September for training camp evaluation.

Brown's departure comes as the defending champions navigate limited financial flexibility under the league's collective bargaining agreement. The 2023 NBA champion previously acknowledged the challenges facing middle-tier veterans under the current salary cap rules. Wiseman will now provide frontcourt depth as the Knicks prepare to host the 76ers at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday.
