Sven Botman was lucky to stay on the field in the narrow defeat to Aston Villa

Newcastle United defender Sven Botman avoided a red card following a controversial tackle on Aston Villa's Jackson at St James' Park. Pundit Jamie Redknapp heavily criticized the challenge, questioning how the tackle did not break Jackson's leg and stating VAR should have upgraded the initial yellow card to a red.
Referee Jarred Gillett deemed the tackle reckless, but a VAR review for serious foul play upheld the yellow card decision. While Aston Villa manager Unai Emery played down the severity of the challenge, Jackson expressed relief that he avoided injury as his side secured a victory.
