The Jets suspended Hellebuyck without pay after he failed to report to their training camp.

The Winnipeg Jets' team-imposed suspension on goaltender Connor Hellebuyck is scheduled to conclude on October 23, according to a report from Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman. The 33-year-old requested a trade during the offseason and was suspended without pay after failing to report to training camp. Under the NHL collective bargaining agreement, Hellebuyck will be eligible to return to the organization once the disciplinary period expires.
Friedman reported that one possibility is the Jets paying Hellebuyck to stay home while pursuing a trade. Hellebuyck's contract runs through 2031 with an $8.5 million cap hit and features a full no-movement clause that complicates potential trade talks. He has already forfeited over $720,000 of his salary during the dispute, while Winnipeg has started the season with a 4-1-2 record in his absence.
