The Story in 60 Seconds

The Portland Trail Blazers waived forward Jeremy Sochan on Saturday ahead of the 2026-27 NBA regular season. Sochan, originally selected ninth overall by the San Antonio Spurs in the 2022 draft, had joined Portland on a non-guaranteed training camp contract in August. Across four preseason appearances for the Trail Blazers, he averaged 6.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in 12.3 minutes per game.

After playing 212 games with the Spurs, Sochan was waived following the previous season's trade deadline and joined the New York Knicks, where he won an NBA championship. Because the 23-year-old forward is ineligible for a two-way deal, he will enter free agency to pursue standard contract opportunities across the league or potentially look overseas.
