Brighton dismantled rivals Crystal Palace 5-0 as Diego Gomez scored from the halfway line in a very one-sided M23 derby.

Brighton and Hove Albion defeated rivals Crystal Palace 5-0 in an emphatic Premier League M23 derby at the Amex Stadium. Fabian Hurzeler's side established a dominant 3-0 lead within the opening 10 minutes following an own goal by Jaydee Canvot, an audacious 50-yard strike from Diego Gomez, and a finish from Yasin Ayari.
Charalampos Kostoulas added a fourth goal early in the second half, before substitute Jack Hinshelwood completed the scoring late in the match. The comprehensive victory lifted Brighton to 16 points from their opening seven games of the season, while Palace manager Pierre Sage accepted full responsibility for his team's poor start.
