Star striker walked out on international team-mates after exclusion
Bruno Fernandes revealed he spoke with Cristiano Ronaldo following the veteran striker's abrupt departure from the Portugal national team camp. The 41-year-old forward left the squad after manager Jorge Jesus kept him as an unused substitute during Portugal's 2-1 victory over Norway in Oslo. Ronaldo subsequently traveled to Madrid and missed Portugal's 4-2 win against Denmark.
Fernandes stated that he reminded Ronaldo that he remains the greatest symbol of Portuguese football regardless of circumstances. The Manchester United captain dismissed claims of a dressing room rift, calling on supporters not to divide the country and urging respect for both sides involved in the controversy.
