Bayern Munich legend and board member Karl-Heinz Rummenigge explains the reasons for abstaining from voting for the contract extension of Max Eberl.

Bayern Munich supervisory board member Karl-Heinz Rummenigge revealed he abstained from voting on sporting director Max Eberl's contract extension. While the board approved new deals through at least 2029 for Eberl, Christoph Freund, and CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen during a September meeting, Eberl's future had previously faced uncertainty among club leadership.
Rummenigge explained in an interview with AZ that public posturing regarding Eberl's status irritated him ahead of the vote. Although Uli Hoeness had publicly supported Eberl, Rummenigge initially planned to vote against the extension before ultimately choosing to abstain.
