Vincent Kompany surprised everyone by rolling out an unusual team designed to confuse English outfit Arsenal in the Champions League. Kim Min-jae was preferred over undisputed starter Jonathan Tah, which Kompany implied had nothing to do with form or favoritism.…

Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany has explained his tactical decision to start defender Kim Min-jae over Jonathan Tah against Arsenal in the Champions League. Kompany stressed that the choice was not related to form or favoritism, emphasizing that playing an important role does not strictly mean starting and that the entire squad is vital for the demanding fixtures ahead.
Bayern director of sport Max Eberl supported Kompany's selection, noting that Kim's partnership with Dayot Upamecano had performed well previously against RB Leipzig. Eberl added that maintaining the effective partnership allowed the team the option to introduce Tah as fresh legs.
