Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich spoke about the passing of his father after playing in Saturday's 2-2 Der Klassiker draw against Borussia Dortmund. Kimmich had recently missed matches to spend time with his family before choosing to return to the squad for the match.
Speaking post-match, Kimmich admitted that returning was emotionally challenging, noting that he constantly thinks of his father on the pitch. He added that playing helped him regain some normality and expressed gratitude for the support shown by Bayern Munich, the DFB, and others around his family.
