Borussia Mönchengladbach announce new head coach

Borussia Mönchengladbach have officially confirmed the appointment of Alexander Blessin as their new head coach. The 53-year-old manager has signed a contract running until 2028, succeeding Eugen Polanski following his dismissal earlier this month. Blessin is scheduled to be formally presented alongside sporting director Rouven Schröder at Borussia-Park on Wednesday afternoon.

Blessin previously managed FC St. Pauli, departing following the club's relegation from the Bundesliga last season, and previously held managerial roles at Union Saint-Gilloise, Genoa, and KV Oostende. He takes over a Mönchengladbach side currently sitting bottom of the Bundesliga table with zero points after four matches in the 2026/27 campaign.
