The German had been nursing an ankle issue since 30 September whereas Ryerson sustained a rib injury while on international duty.

Borussia Dortmund defender Nico Schlotterbeck has been included in the matchday squad to face Werder Bremen tonight following an ankle issue, while Julian Ryerson has been ruled out. Schlotterbeck sustained ligament damage to his right ankle during a Germany training session on September 30, but his return avoids another extended layoff following previous injury struggles earlier in the year.
Ryerson remains sidelined after aggravating a rib injury while playing for Norway against Wales. Midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka is also out due to muscle problems suffered on international duty with Austria, while USMNT prospect Mathis Albert has returned to the squad for the Bundesliga fixture.
