SC Freiburg head coach Julian Schuster praised his side's collective mentality and dressing room unity after securing a dramatic 2-1 victory over Schalke 04. Keisuke Goto scored an 85th-minute winner from a Vincenzo Grifo cross to keep Freiburg unbeaten and move them to the top of the Bundesliga table.
Maximilian Eggestein opened the scoring for Freiburg before Adrian Gantenbein equalized for Schalke in the first half. Freiburg played with ten men after Yuito Suzuki was sent off in the 64th minute, but rallied late to secure the win ahead of their upcoming Conference League fixture.
