Matthäus sees no Bayern route for Wirtz but raises prospect of Chelsea move

Lothar Matthäus believes Bayern Munich lacks space for Florian Wirtz, suggesting Chelsea could be a viable alternative destination. Writing for Sky Germany, Matthäus noted that Wirtz could potentially reunite with his former Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso at Stamford Bridge if his struggles at Liverpool continue following a heavy 3-0 defeat against Manchester City.

Matthäus argued that Bayern's stacked attack makes a move unrealistic, pointing to established starters Harry Kane, Michael Olise, Luis Díaz, and Jamal Musiala. The German legend added that while Spanish clubs might also show interest, Liverpool and Wirtz may eventually seek a solution if the playmaker fails to rediscover his best form.
