Marcel Sabitzer was the hero on the night, converting from an injury time free kick to guide Dortmund past Werder Bremen into the Pokal last-16.

Marcel Sabitzer scored a stoppage-time free kick to lead Borussia Dortmund to a 3-2 victory over Werder Bremen in the DFB-Pokal. Dortmund initially built a two-goal advantage through early strikes from Serhou Guirassy and Carney Chukwuemeka. Bremen substitute Niclas Füllkrug then scored twice within nine minutes to level the match before Sabitzer struck late to secure Dortmund's place in the round of 16.
Dortmund opened the scoring when Guirassy converted Julian Ryerson's assist, and Chukwuemeka doubled the lead from a Jobe Bellingham knockdown. Werder Bremen responded when manager Daniel Thioune introduced Füllkrug, who netted a penalty and added a long-range goal. Sabitzer ultimately settled the tie deep into injury time with a decisive set piece.
