Birmingham City were said to be keen on landing the midfielder in the summer transfer window but it didn't materialise in the end.

Writer Harry Mail argues Birmingham City dodged a bullet by missing out on signing Rokas Pukstas during the summer transfer window. The 22-year-old midfielder left Hajduk Split to join Middlesbrough instead for a reported £4.3 million fee. However, Pukstas has struggled for game time under manager Kim Hellberg, making only one 22-minute appearance so far before suffering a hamstring injury.
Mail notes that Birmingham City manager Chris Davies already possesses ample midfield depth, including recent arrival Max Bird, Paik Seung-ho, Tomoki Iwata, Jhon Solis, and Taylor Gardner-Hickman. Sitting third in the Championship table, the Blues are instead expected to focus on recruiting attacking midfielders and wingers during the upcoming January transfer window.
