Burnley have sacked head coach Nicky Hayen with immediate effect following a heavy 4-1 defeat away at Lincoln on Saturday. The Belgian was dismissed only 12 games into the Championship season after overseeing just one league victory since his July appointment, leaving the pre-season promotion favorites sitting in the relegation zone.
Burnley's board confirmed the departure in a brief statement citing a disappointing start to the campaign, which leaves the club third from bottom with the division's joint-worst defensive record. Hayen's only league win came against Watford on October 10.
