Sheffield Wednesday have sacked manager Henrik Pedersen after only 11 matches in the League One season. The Owls parted ways with Pedersen on Sunday morning following consecutive 2-0 defeats to Notts County and Doncaster Rovers. The decision leaves the club in eighth place, two points away from the play-off places, with Matt Hamshaw stepping in as interim manager while a permanent successor is sought.
Pedersen initially guided Wednesday through administration and an 18-point deduction in the Championship last season following financial issues under former owner Dejphon Chansiri. Despite a run of five wins, three draws, and three defeats this season, Sporting Director Simon Wilson stated that the club decided to make a change due to insufficient progress in establishing a consistent style of play.
