Middlesbrough’s Rockliffe makes UEFA shortlist for national teams at Euro 2028 after Spygate

Middlesbrough's Rockliffe training base has been selected by UEFA on the official shortlist of potential team base camps for Euro 2028. The facility, which features training grounds alongside a hotel and golf club, could host national teams playing tournament matches at Newcastle United's St James' Park.

The inclusion comes despite security concerns from a recent Spygate scandal, prompting Middlesbrough to bolster security around the site. The venue previously hosted England training camps under Gareth Southgate ahead of Euro 2020 and Euro 2024, as well as Scotland during Euro 2020.
