The south-coast derby with Southampton sparks a challenging run for John Mousinho’s men after the international break, which EFL experts believe could offer the Blues cause for concern.

EFL pundit Ali Maxwell warns Portsmouth could face a "scary" situation during a difficult run of upcoming Championship fixtures. John Mousinho's team sits 19th in the Championship table with eight points from seven games ahead of a challenging schedule that includes Southampton, Sheffield United, Norwich City, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Millwall.
Despite the tough upcoming schedule, Maxwell noted that Portsmouth's defensive metrics provide significant optimism. The Blues currently hold the division's third-best non-penalty expected goals against record and have faced the third-fewest shots, highlighting strong defensive resilience under Mousinho despite their lower budgetary ranking.
