It’s a role for The General which drew flak last season, but now Pompey fans are seeing the midfielder impact games from the advanced position.

Portsmouth manager John Mousinho has defended deploying midfielder Ebou Adams in an advanced No. 10 role, insisting the 30-year-old makes a notable difference in the position. The tactical decision previously drew criticism from supporters following a heavy defeat to Queens Park Rangers last season. However, Adams has recently shown strong form in the attacking role, including scoring a late winner in a 3-2 victory against Sheffield United.
Adams made a significant impact from the bench when replacing Adrian Segečić in Saturday's victory over Millwall, following a 1-1 draw against Wolves. Mousinho explained that squad rotation drove the decision to bench Adams initially, managing player fatigue during a demanding stretch of four matches across 13 days, which has left Portsmouth with just one defeat in eight Championship games.
