Portsmouth intrigue as new surprise twist emerges in Championship rivals Burnley’s manager hunt

Former CSKA Moscow manager Fabio Celestini has reportedly emerged as a strong contender for the vacant managerial role at Burnley ahead of their clash with Portsmouth. Burnley sacked Nicky Hayen following a 4-1 defeat to Lincoln City, but initial frontrunners Rob Edwards and Carlos Corberan are no longer in contention after Edwards stepped away and Corberan prioritized a Premier League opportunity.

Celestini has reportedly traveled to England alongside his potential coaching staff, although no formal agreement is in place. Burnley's chief of football, Diego Lopez, is leading the managerial search as the 22nd-placed Clarets prepare to host John Mousinho's 11th-placed Portsmouth at Turf Moor on Saturday.
