Swansea City boss Vitor Matos suggested Pompey were ‘really physical’ and ‘sometimes too extreme’, after being defeated at Fratton Park. Here’s what the Blues head coach had to say in response.

Portsmouth manager John Mousinho responded to comments from Swansea City boss Vitor Matos, who claimed Pompey's physical style was sometimes "too extreme" following Portsmouth's 3-1 win on Tuesday at Fratton Park. Mousinho dismissed any suggestion that his team played with malice or crossed the line, welcoming the assessment and stating that teams must be aggressive to compete effectively in the Championship.
Mousinho explained his side adapted directly to Swansea's high-intensity pressing, which led to Terry Devlin's opening goal after bypassing the press. He also defended midfielder Ebou Adams, who was booked after a challenge that resulted in a knee injury to Swansea defender Stephen Welsh, stating he viewed the incident as unlucky rather than malicious.
