Pompey increased their transfer outlay this summer, as Championship spending reached record levels

Portsmouth manager John Mousinho emphasized that rival Championship clubs are spending on single players what his club spent on an entire squad. Despite Pompey raising their transfer outlay by spending around £11m across 11 players this summer, Mousinho highlighted the immense financial gap facing the Fratton Park side in a division where overall spending hit £289.3m.
Pompey's summer deals included an initial £3m for Marko Milovanović, £2.5m for Abu Kamara, £2.2m for Tyrese Shade, and £2.1m for Rocco Shein. In contrast, Burnley spent £20.8m permanently on Florentino Luis, requiring Portsmouth to balance their squad with free transfers and loans.
