The Story in 60 Seconds

Portsmouth supporter Kevin Cooper reflects on 50 years of following the club away, starting with an August 21, 1976 trip to Wrexham. Traveling in an Austin 1100 with four friends—Doug, Chas, Dave, and Steve "Piggy"—the group witnessed Pompey suffer a 2-0 defeat in their opening Division 3 fixture of that season before a crowd of 4,762.

The group plans to return to Wrexham on November 28 to mark the milestone in a Land Rover Discovery. Cooper, Doug, and Chas will make the journey alongside Gary, a former Portsmouth physio who is stepping in for Dave due to ill health and Steve, who passed away three years prior.
