John Egan opens up on Sheffield United exit as former captain savours unexpected Premier League return

Former Sheffield United captain John Egan has reflected on his exit from Bramall Lane after being released following an Achilles injury. The 33-year-old defender stated in an interview with the Irish Independent that not receiving a chance to continue at the club was hurtful, though he holds no animosity toward the team.

After a spell at Burnley, Egan earned promotion to the Premier League with Hull City via the play-offs. He recently signed a new contract with Hull alongside fellow former Blades players Oli McBurnie and Regan Slater, where he continues to play under manager Sergej Jakirovic.
