Kieran Maguire has revealed that Southampton have lost £81m over the last decade. But, this amount seems rather slim next to some of their rivals.

Football finance expert Kieran Maguire revealed that Southampton accumulated £81m in losses over the last decade, while rival Middlesbrough posted an even larger loss of £268m. Across 48 clubs that featured in the Championship during the past ten years, only Burton Albion recorded a profit, which stood at a modest £1.1m.
Southampton's financial position was impacted last season after being removed from the promotion playoffs following a Spygate controversy, while Middlesbrough fell short in the playoff final against Hull City. Maguire's data highlighted Bristol City with £259m in losses, illustrating the financial strain facing second-tier clubs chasing promotion.
